Brunette to Blonde: All About my Hair Cut, Color, and Style
Hi friends! It’s been a while since I posted to my Brunette to Blonde series. My last post was back in September and I think I had just finished my fourth session. A lot of you have asked me about how much I spend and how often I go so today i'm sharing with you everything about my hair cut, color, and style.
Coloring my hair has been a veeerrryyy expensive hobby but one worth spending money on. I waited at least 7 years to get a balayage because 1) it's expensive and 2) I was afraid that my hair would turn orange (which it did). My first two balayage sessions were about $300 each. 😖 However, prices may vary per salon and stylist and I highly suggest scheduling a consultation to get a breakdown of how much it’ll cost and a possible timeline.
Right now I go to the salon every 4-6 weeks to tone my hair which costs about $25. I recently went in to add more dimension with baby lights, lighten my roots, and tone and that cost me about $115. I rarely do the latter so after your initial balayage session(s) you can expect your payments to go down.
For my inspiration photos I wanted to show my stylist examples of people that looked tan like me. This made it so much easier for me to explain to her what I wanted because she could visually imagine how many sessions it would take to get my hair to that ash blonde goodness. See my inspiration photos below!
For my cut, I’m obsessed with that textured, “lived in”, long bob look and live for that voluminous/messy I woke up like this hair. During the summer I go a little shorter because I hate having sweaty hair touching my neck (anyone else?). Peep my pinterest board for lob inspired photos I always show my stylist when asking for this cut.
I’m pretty simple when it comes to styling my hair. I love that textured, beachy waves look and will wear that throughout the week. My second day hair usually consists of a voluminous messy bun thanks to my new favorite Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam.
That’s pretty much it for my hair cut, color, and style. One thing I want to encourage you to do is to ask lots of questions! A good stylist will not be afraid to tell you what he/she thinks/suggests which is what I always loved about my stylists.
