Fall/Winter Skincare Routine for Combination Skin

Fall/Winter has become somewhat of a skin nightmare for me. I struggle with oily skin majority of the year so combination skin (oily t-zone, dry cheeks) is new for me.

I discovered my combination skin about two years ago when I started developing dry patches under my eyes during the cooler months and needed a product to relieve the dry, irritated spots. Since then i've found my holy grail winter eye cream and all of the products i'm currently using have been keeping my skin balanced. I want to share with you my Fall/Winter skincare routine for combination skin because i'm sure a lot of you are in the same boat i'm in.

I've broken the post up into a.m., p.m., and face masks to help you better navigate what you are looking for. If you have any questions, please leave it in the comments down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. - Jessika

Hi friends! The cooler weather has gotten the best of my skin and my oily skin went from oily to combination in seconds. I won't let oily t-zones and dry cheeks ruin our party season so I'm sharing with you my Fall/Winter Skincare Routine for Combination Skin. I hope you find something that works for you! During the Fall/Winter months I continue to refrain from cleaning my face with face wash in the morning. Instead, I use the oils I produce overnight as a natural "hydrator" by waking up my sleepy skin with cool water. After patting my skin dry with a clean towel, I prep my skin for moisture by spritzing Pixi's Hydrating Milky Mist all over. This product is super hydrating and has hyaluronic acid which helps plump up the skin's fine lines caused by dry skin. Next I apply Murad's Anti-Aging Moisturizer with SPF 30 then I swipe on Kate Somerville's Goat Milk De-Puffing Eye Balm (the best for puffy eyes and convenient for traveling)

If you follow me on Snapchat (follow me! jessmahina) you've probably seen how lengthy my nighttime skincare routine is. I personally love pampering my skin and it all starts with removing my makeup. I usually use a cleansing oil to remove my makeup, but i've been trying to avoid oils since getting my lash extensions and have been using just makeup removing wipes. But the wipes have been leaving my skin dry and tight so I started applying 2-3 pumps of Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil to loosen the makeup then I wipe it off with a makeup wipe. To wash my face I use Murad's Time Release Acne Cleanser; my favorite cleanser for adult and hormonal acne.

To prep my skin for moisture, I tone with Neutrogena's Acne Stress Control toner and spray Pixi's Hydrating Milky Mist all over. I use Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate as a serum and gently pat three drops onto my face, neck, and décolletage. To moisturize, I apply a tiny amount of Belif's Aqua Bomb (great for normal, oily, and combination skin). I apply Kiehl's Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment (my holy grail winter eye cream) last for ultimate under eye moisture. 😍

Face Masks

I love face masks and truly believe that applying a mask 1-2 times a week can help alleviate your skin probs. There are a few different things I do during my nighttime skincare routine when I'm going to apply a mask.

To start, I remove my makeup then use an exfoliator to remove any dead skin that might be clogging my pores. Skin Inc.'s Pure Revival Peel is a gentle exfoliator that goes on like a jelly then starts balling up once you start working it into your skin. Super cool!

To further prep my skin for a face mask, I skip my normal nighttime cleanser and use Murad's AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser to brighten my skin.

When i'm done prepping my skin, I apply the face mask that best fits how my skin is reacting. For acne I use Origins Clear Improvements Active Charcoal Mask to pull gunk to the surface. To brighten dull skin I use Kiehl's Tumeric  Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask. To hydrate dry, thirsty skin I use the Fresh Rose Face Mask.

Jessika's tip: I like using my Sephora VIB Rewards to try out luxury samples of face masks. That way I don't feel too committed by buying luxury brands and it's easy to take with me while I travel. Kiehl's also gives out luxury samples to their rewards members.

When i'm done with the mask, I do the rest of my nighttime skincare routine (apply toner, oil, moisturizer, etc.)
